Thank God for friends.

Dear friends,

Thank you for all your well wishes, prayers, emails, smses and support. I spoke to my dad this evening. He sounds weak and tired. But at least he's feeling well enough to talk and tell me not to waste my money on a ticket back to Malaysia to see him.

Not feeling well and thinking about me saving money. Almost back to normal. Almost like a normal conversation...only softer, more tired, older...

My mom told me that he had been re-admitted again last night but was discharged this morning. She said that the doctor had given him some medication that caused severe gastric pains and vomiting.

Mom said how our family friends came to look after dad so that she could go get his medication at the pharmacy...how a family friend went to get stuff for mom to make soup and porridge....how everyone's offered help, one way or another.

& how I'm a thousand miles away, not being able to do what a daughter should be there to do. *sigh* Breaks my heart.

And still, I sit here, unsure. The question still remains unanswered.

Should I go home?

Can I do anything for your mom/dad?

Do let me know. I get off in the afternoon so I can drop by if your mom needs help. I kinda lost your house phone.. wasn't sure if it was appropriate to drop by like that.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, come home. I'm sure he'll be glad to see you, despite his protests.

Sometimes we take it for granted that things are going to stay the same, don't we? Sometimes I myself forget that my parents are growing older, and not as strong as they used to be. That now it's my turn to take care of them.

But not being able to be there at the drop of a hat is frustrating indeed. At least you're in Australia, which is not as far away from home as UK. There was 13 hours of flight between us. It was one of the reasons why I decided to come home for good. I could never live with it if I couldn't make in time in case anything happens.

She's got hubby, can't simply come home for good.

You're far away from home, and maybe now you can see the downside of it. This is why I only studied in London for a year. I liked it there, but I love my family, friends and country much more.

So Moo, it might be a hassle and expensive getting back here, but it might be worth it for your peace of mind. So take care, and don't worry so much. Lay Lan tells me worrying = wrinkles ;)

Despite ur father's protest about you coming home, I'm sure he'll be glad to see you. I would suggest you come home for a visit and cheer him up with your presence. I'm still in confinement, but if you need anything, you can always ask, and I'll get Chen Lei to help out. I'll be upholding your dad in prayers. Hang on and don't worry too much.

Prayer. It helps.

Thanks guys...appreciate EVERYTHING that all of you have done, individually and collectively.

I spoke to my dad earlier and he sounds much better. He even joked about going fishing soon ;) Both my parents say don't come home and I feel so much more relieved hearing the life in my dad's voice. Mom sounds much better too so it's all good.

The power of prayer...bless you all and take care. *hugs*

Friends said to get your mom to be extra careful. A small one *may* lead to a bigger one in future. No harm to have it checked out via a 2nd opinion in Singapore or Malacca (the specialists).

Clogged arteries? etc etc.

I had this idea that I could hook up you and your parents on a webcam and you guys to have a video conference.

Izso: Dad's going for a follow up on Monday.

Pugly: He'll do anything to go fishing so its good if he mentions fishing.

Danny: Andrew (remember him from the wedding?) just got a webcam for my parents. He's in Penang right now so he'll pass it to my parents when he gets back.
